🎺 The Bergholz Blaskapelle – A Living German Musical Tradition 🇩🇪
In 1843, five hundred Prussian immigrants settled in Bergholz, near Niagara Falls, New York, bringing with them a deep love for their traditional music. That rich musical heritage has been proudly preserved and passed down through the generations.
Formed in 1971, the Bergholz Blaskapelle (German Brass Band) carries on the spirit of Old World Germany with colorful uniforms, classic oom-pah rhythms, and the joyful energy of “Gemütlichkeit”—that special German sense of cheer and community.
🎶 While rooted in tradition, the band also features more contemporary German arrangements, many of which were brought back from tours in Europe. The full wind ensemble creates a bold, harmonious sound that brings audiences to their feet at concerts, parades, and festivals across Western New York and beyond.
Originally made up of fourth- and fifth-generation German-American descendants, today’s Bergholz Blaskapelle includes talented musicians from all over the Niagara region who share a love for German music and culture.
